The SayPro NPO Web Design Competition tasks participants with designing and developing a website that not only represents the NPO’s mission but also engages its audience and addresses its digital needs.
Primary Responsibilities:
✔ Design an Engaging and User-Friendly Website
- Develop a clean, modern, and professional design that reflects the NPO’s values and mission.
- Ensure the website is intuitive, easy to navigate, and optimized for a positive user experience.
✔ Ensure Full Website Functionality
- Build a fully responsive website that functions seamlessly on all devices (desktop, tablet, and mobile).
- Integrate all essential features, including donation systems, event calendars, volunteer registration forms, and contact forms.
✔ Implement SEO Best Practices
To ensure the website is discoverable by search engines, participants are expected to:
- Keyword Optimization – Conduct keyword research and integrate relevant keywords into meta tags, headings, page content, and image alt texts.
- Content Structure – Organize content with clear headings (H1, H2, H3) to improve readability and assist search engines in indexing the website properly.
- URL Structure – Use SEO-friendly URLs with relevant keywords to improve search engine ranking.
- Mobile Optimization – Since search engines prioritize mobile-friendly websites, ensure the design is responsive and loads quickly on all devices.
- Meta Tags and Descriptions – Include optimized meta titles and meta descriptions for each page, accurately describing the page’s content.
- Image Optimization – Use appropriately sized images with descriptive alt text to help with indexing and improve load times.
- Internal Linking – Create a structure of internal links between pages to help search engines crawl the website effectively.
- Sitemaps – Implement XML sitemaps to help search engines index pages more efficiently.
✔ Ensure Website Accessibility
- Adhere to WCAG (Web Content Accessibility Guidelines) to ensure the website is accessible to all users, including those with disabilities.
✔ Collaborate with NPO Representatives
- Work closely with the assigned NPO to understand their vision and goals for the website.
- Regularly seek feedback to ensure the website aligns with the NPO’s mission and expectations.
✔ Provide Documentation and Support
- Deliver clear documentation on how to maintain and update the website.
- Provide guidance on how to track SEO performance using tools like Google Analytics and Google Search Console.
