Purpose

These materials are designed to ensure that all judges are well-prepared to evaluate the finalists in SayPro’s Monthly Final Judging competition. It includes essential information regarding the competition structure, judging criteria, scoring rubrics, and expectations for the judging process. The goal is to ensure transparency, consistency, and fairness in evaluating all finalists.


Event Overview

The SayPro Monthly Final Judging event brings together the best and brightest finalists who have demonstrated exceptional skill, innovation, and impact in their respective fields. The final round will consist of presentations by the finalists, followed by a Q&A session with the judges.

Each judge will be responsible for assessing the finalists’ presentations, providing feedback, and scoring them based on predefined criteria. Your role as a judge is to fairly and impartially evaluate the participants while offering constructive and supportive feedback.

Judge Responsibilities

As a judge, you are expected to:

  1. Review All Finalist Submissions: Before the event, familiarize yourself with the finalists’ projects, including their presentations, supporting documents, and any other materials they submit.
  2. Attend Briefing Sessions: Participate in a judge orientation session to clarify the expectations, understand the scoring system, and review the judging process.
  3. Evaluate Finalists’ Presentations: On the day of the event, you will evaluate the finalists based on their presentations and the information provided. You will score each finalist individually and provide feedback.
  4. Engage in the Q&A: After each presentation, you will ask clarifying questions, provide constructive feedback, and engage in dialogue with the finalists during the Q&A session.
  5. Maintain Confidentiality: Ensure all scoring and feedback are kept confidential until the final results are announced.

Judging Process

  1. Finalist Presentations:
    • Each finalist will have 15 minutes to present their project.
    • Presentations will be followed by 5 minutes for Q&A from the judges.
    • Ensure that you ask meaningful questions that help gauge the depth of the finalists’ understanding and the impact of their work.
  2. Evaluation:
    • After each presentation, you will rate the finalists based on the scoring rubric (see below).
    • Be objective and provide detailed feedback to help the finalists understand their strengths and areas for improvement.
    • Each judge should submit their scores and feedback individually, without discussing the evaluation with other judges until the final scoring process.
