January SCDR.4.9.4 – 5-Day Skill Development Camp
Focus: Life and Social Skills Development


Objective:

To recruit experienced, skilled, and passionate facilitators who can effectively engage and teach youth participants in various areas such as conflict resolution, financial literacy, leadership, and personal branding. Facilitators must not only be experts in their respective fields but also excel in working with youth, using interactive and engaging methods.


1. Define Facilitator Roles and Responsibilities

A. Key Facilitator Roles:

  1. Conflict Resolution Facilitator
    • Core Skills: Mediation techniques, emotional intelligence, conflict de-escalation, negotiation skills.
    • Sessions: Teach how to manage disagreements, resolve interpersonal conflicts, and foster collaborative environments.
  2. Financial Literacy Facilitator
    • Core Skills: Budgeting, saving, investing, understanding financial systems, and money management strategies.
    • Sessions: Introduce youth to basic financial concepts and empower them with tools for managing personal finances.
  3. Leadership Facilitator
    • Core Skills: Motivational speaking, group dynamics, team-building, mentoring.
    • Sessions: Guide participants through leadership exercises, including how to build self-confidence, lead by example, and encourage others.
  4. Personal Branding Facilitator
    • Core Skills: Self-awareness, professional etiquette, creating a personal brand, online presence management.
    • Sessions: Help youth understand the importance of their image and personal brand, both online and offline, and how to build a strong personal narrative.

B. General Facilitator Responsibilities:

  • Pre-Camp Preparation: Review and familiarize themselves with the camp curriculum, materials, and goals.
  • Facilitation: Lead interactive workshops, simulations, and group activities, ensuring high engagement and participation.
  • Monitoring: Observe group dynamics, provide personalized feedback, and adapt content based on participant needs.
  • Evaluation: Assist in participant assessment and provide constructive feedback at the end of each day.

2. Recruitment Strategy

A. Job Description and Criteria

Create clear and engaging job descriptions with specific criteria for the different facilitator roles:

Key Qualifications for Facilitators:

  • Experience: Minimum 3 years in the relevant field (e.g., conflict resolution, financial literacy, leadership coaching).
  • Youth Engagement: Proven track record of working with young people in educational or camp settings.
  • Facilitation Skills: Ability to present content in a fun, engaging, and interactive manner, incorporating various learning styles.
  • Passion: A genuine passion for youth development, community empowerment, and the SayPro mission.

Desirable Skills:

3. Recruitment Process
